Adrenal hormones and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis are covered in this module. Testing focuses on blood marks for cortisol (AM), DHEA-S, and ACTH as well as DUTCH dried urine and salivary testing for cortisol (free and total metabolized), DHEA, and melatonin. We dispell myths about adrenal fatigue and help orient clinicians to a realistic understanding for what is happening with the physiology during HPA axis dysfunction.
