Certification 2-07: MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome)

Level 2 - Module 7 of the Mind-Body Functional Medicine Certification Program

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) is a common co-occurance with mold / CIRS and/or Lyme / MSIDS. There are histamine intolerance issues, DAO enzyme problems, methylation dysfunction, and activation of mast cells that can all lead to a similar picture of histamine-like symptoms and high sensitivity to supplementation / medication.

We cover testing such as histamine (plasma), DAO enzyme, tryptase, chromogranin A, the Afrin Questionnaire, methylation signs like high homocysteine, and symptoms. We then dive into treatment options for helping people through the symptoms with ideas about root causes.
