CC: Can’t sleep, never feels rested
Hx:
- This man works the night shift from 11-7 every night.
- He has to get ready for work around 930 PM and aims to leave his house at 10 PM each evening.
- When he gets off work, he generally goes to a nearby coffee shop, has a coffee and reads the news then drives home.
- Once home he goes on a morning run, eats a big breakfast, watches some TV and aims to get in bed by noon or so.
- Ideally he would sleep until 8 PM and then have dinner; but mostly he finds himself sleeping till 4:30 or 5 PM and then laying around relaxing watching movies or reading until 8.
Other:
- This man works night shifts because he gets double pay. He should have enough savings to meet his goal – purchasing a house of his own – in 3.5 years.
- He used to sleep well. In the past three years he is finding it increasingly more challenging to sleep a solid 8 hours.
- He has a consistent schedule and measures such as blackout curtains and sound machines in his room.
- As his sleep has become compromised, having energy to stick to his exercise and health routines is becoming difficult.
- This man would like support with his sleep and energy. He would like to sleep consistently and be able to maintain his work schedule until his “out point” when he should have enough money saved to buy a house for himself and shift back into a normal wake/ sleep routine.
